STRABAG has continuously developed the process since the first Materiality Assessment was carried out. Since 2024, the implementation has been fully compliant with the ESRS requirements of the CSRD.

Initial situation & requirements

To implement the new reporting obligations, STRABAG was looking for a new digital solution to carry out the Double Materiality Assessment.

Key requirements for a new tool:

Introduction of Materiality Master

The switch to the AI-supported Materiality Master Software could be carried out without significant process adjustments. STRABAG was able to use the tool productively immediately, as the onboarding process was smooth and consistently positive. Registration and the creation of additional users were straightforward and without delays. Thanks to the intuitive design of the tool, no extensive training was required, so that productive use was possible immediately.

Particularly relevant modules for STRABAG:

  • IRO analysis as a central working tool
  • Materiality matrix for internal and external communication
  • Individual adjustments and function requests, which were quickly implemented by the Materiality Master team, increase the variety of uses

Results & Added Value

Through the central bundling of all information in the Materiality Master, STRABAG was able to increase transparency for all involved stakeholders, significantly reduce the risk of different document versions and noticeably reduce manual effort. At the same time, the auditability of the results by external third parties was significantly strengthened.

An example from practice: Automation in the tool eliminates a large part of the functionality checks. The effort for quality assurance is thus significantly reduced.
